Trips For Kids
Trips For Kids JORBA is a member of Trips For Kids® International a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Marin County, California. Founded in 1988 and now operating in over 80 locations throughout the United States, Canada and Israel, Trips For Kids (TFK®) International has opened the world of cycling to over 100,000 at-risk youth through guided mountain bike rides and job training/earn-a-bike programs. All TFK chapters, modeled on the foundation of the original TFK Marin program, are managed and operated independently at the local level but share a common goal. Their mission is to use bicycles as a vehicle for lessons in confidence building, achievement, health, fitness and environmental awareness through the development of practical skills and the simple act of having fun.
JORBA is proud to be a TFK chapter and is looking forward to a very bright future.
If you would like to make a financial contribution to the TFK/JORBA program you can do so two ways.

Bringing the joy of bicycling and the outdoors to children
At a Trips For Kids outing, we’ll provide the volunteers, the helmets, the mountain bikes, and even the trails; the kids provide the laughs and smiles.
New for 2012, JORBA and Trips For Kids will bring bikes to children and children to bikes for rides and environmental education. Working with other non-profits regionally, we will teach bike-handling and life skills on lively outings that encourage children to recognize the beauty and value of the wild spaces in our area.
A typical ride starts on a weekend morning with volunteers helping children find just the right size bike and secure their helmets. Get-acquainted games allow youngsters and adults to become more comfortable with each other before tackling skills-building activities on the trail. After an initial short ride, volunteers may serve a light lunch and discuss the lessons of the morning. The day culminates with a longer, more challenging ride through the woods on single track.
Our JORBA Trips For Kids coordinator is Rick Archer. If you have any questions, or would like more information on how to host a JORBA TFK ride in your area, please contact Rick at TripsforKids@JORBA.org
