UPCOMING ACTIVITIES IN THE RESERVATION

June 8 (Sun): 9:00 a.m. -Noon TRASH TACKLERS
Join the East CoastOutdoors (http://www.theeastcoastoutdoors.com) for a clean-up. ECO is alocally-run outdoor guiding company with an environmental ethic who want to give back. Hikes in reservation revealed excess trash so the Gattens (owners) will conductthis cleanup.

June 14 (Sat): 9:30-11:30 a.m.: WASHINGTON ROCK
Get off the beaten path to the Rock and discover lesser-known ways of getting there, including an old, abandoned 19th century road. Children 8 and older ok (bring father along too for Father's Day). Meet at the Dog Park area off Crest Drive

June 15 (Sun): 9:30 a.m.-Noon FOREST REGENERATION CORPS.
Details as per May 18 entry. Meet at the Deer Paddock and Dog Park area.Drive in Crest Drive from South Orange Ave.

June 20 (Fri): BIO-BLITZ 7:30 p.m.-10:00 p.m., June 21 (Sat) 9 a.m.-5 p.m.South Mountain Conservancy, partnering with the Essex Co. Parks Dept. & the Rahway River Assoc., will conduct a SMR Bio-Blitz, a 24-hour study to count as many species of plants (flora) and animals (fauna). This measure of biodiversity will provide a baseline data charting the relative health of the ecosystem. The Bio-Blitz will also provide many opportunities for activities for children and adults (nature exhibits, short hikes, identifying animal tracks, etc.). Bio-Blitz Headquarters will be at Summit Field (accessible from South Orange Ave. via Crest Drive). Picnic tables and tents at Summit Field will show exhibits. Contact the Essex County Env.
